This transformational on-campus student residence targeted LEED® for Homes Mid-rise Silver certification

  • Enhanced thermal performance
  • Water-saving plumbing fixtures
  • A roof-top solar array
  • LED lighting throughout the building

In the spring of 2018, Shoreline Community College broke ground on its first on-campus student housing building. Nestled in the heart of the college’s 83-acre wooded campus, the new student housing building features 68 units with shared living rooms and kitchens, and generous common space for all Shoreline students to connect and study. The project also features a double-height Great Room and outdoor courtyard for college and community events.

O’Brien360 worked with DES, Spectrum Development, Encore Architects, and WG Clark Construction as the LEED for Homes Provider and Green Rater on the project, which recently earned LEED for Homes Mid-Rise Silver certification.

O’Brien360 provided guidance during design to integrate the rating system requirements into this unique building type and proactive planning and diagnostics toward compartmentalization of residential units; an underlying goal of LEED for Homes.  O’Brien360 also provided early design guidance to meeting the project’s energy performance goals and is currently providing LEED energy modeling and commissioning for LEED Midrise and Washington State Energy Code.
